With the release of new single Losing Touch, a massive slab of glossy rock, Derbyshire band Those Who Knew are further finding their sound as a band.
Forming in early 2015 the band have gone through some line-up changes before settling into their current five-piece format. Losing Touch comes ahead of a full EP and sees them stretching into their glossy rock sound, getting comfortable with a big guitar pop vibe.
Somewhere between the big and emotional production of early ’00s American melodic hardcore like Jimmy Eat World and Dashboard Confessional, and the energetic fun-time guitar pop of McBusted there is boldness rumbling beneath the swell and fall of the track.
There’s a sheen on the sound, an expansiveness to the drums, an emotional sweep to the vocal – this harks back to the days when emo was can’t-contain-this-hardcore rather than introspective and whining; promising stuff from a band just getting comfortable in a new line-up and readying themselves for a first full release.
Single Losing Touch is out now across usual digital platforms.
