Having sold out their hometown date of their autumn tour Lightyear have added a second night at the Hairy Dog this October.
Tickets are now on sale for 19 October 2017 after original date (20 October) sold out, and will be the first of a UK tour. Demand for tickets is reported to be high and you can get your hands on them here or from the venue.
Formed in 1997 the ska punk band were signed to Household Name Records, through which they released two albums before splitting in 2003 after the release of the Derby-landmark referencing Chris Gentlemens Hairdresser and Railway Bookshop album. They played a farewell show at the Assembly Rooms that year but returned briefly in 2006 before splitting while playing at Leeds and Reading Festival.
One off shows in Derby have happened in 2007 and 2009 while the band also made festival appearances in 2015. The coming 20th anniversary tour marks a permanent reformation and the band say they are working on new material.
They will be supported across the tour by Unqualified Nurse Band, who released debut album on Derby label Reckless Yes last year followed by a Too Pure Singles release in March this year. They are also currently working on new material with tracks expected to start appearing in the summer.
Replica Jesus and Vanilla Pod have been announced for the extra Derby date and Lightyear posted on Facebook, “These are looking to be Lightyear‘s best shows ever. Any Derby shows people remember? Always the maddest!”
Get tickets for the extra Lightyear date on 19 October 2017 at the Hairy Dog here or direct from the venue.
