New Derbyshire four-piece Damn Cargo have shared two tracks online – the first from the punky alt-rock four piece which features members of several well-known bands.
Starting with a squall of static the demo tracks released on the band’s Bandcamp page quickly kick in with a rock steady rhythm and thrash of guitar around Lucie De Lacy’s strong vocal.
Daltrey Roll and Glass Walls bring in influences from Tool to Skunk Anansie while also playing on the DIY garage punk of False Advertising or Juliette and The Licks. With vocals that sit above the melody both tracks are built around a forthright rock sound, pounding forward and rolling through pace changes with ease.
Recorded at Snug Recording in Derby the two tracks are a great introduction to a band which features some familiar faces on the Derby scene – former LostAlone drummer Mark Gibson, Chris Seddon of Joy Surrender and Imogen, Ash Bird of London band Iodine. They’re joined by first time vocalist De Lacy for a powerful sound that at first listen shows great potential.
