The Honeymoon Suite – Poser: single review

The Honeymoon Suite Poser cover artDerby four piece The Honeymoon Suite are set to release their second single Poser this Saturday (13 January 2018).

The track follows on from their debut single Taste-Less, self-released digitally last autumn alongside their first gigs around the city, including those at Dubrek and The Venue for Radar Love.

Whereas their first outing saw them hitting indie rock touchstones from The Kooks through to Blossoms with a Smiths-esque literary lyric this second track hears them gently evoke Bombay Bicycle Club and something of the Oasis in the lyric – albeit more refined.

Jangling melody, languid lead vocal backed with shimmering harmonies and the sort of sing-a-long chorus you want on a sticky dancefloor at 2am or to get under cider-soaked and sun-drenched skin in the festival fields of summer.

For a band fresh out the blocks The Honeymoon Suite are making sure they give a good early impression with their first tracks. Drawing on the best of the past across the indie and alt-rock genre while adding enough individuality to make their own mark, these are smart but sound singles from a band with the potential to be making it in the mainstream.

Poser by The Honeymoon Suite will be released digitally on 13 January 2018 and they next play Derby on 15 February 2018, at Radar Love with The Blinders and Floodhounds at The Venue – more info here.
