She Speaks, the female-led performance night, is returning for its fifth instalment and working in association with LGB-Qwerty has made an open call for artists.
Set to take place on Sunday 18 February 2018 at the Vic Inn the event will mark LGBT History Month. Announcing the open call on Facebook the nights organisers also took the opportunity to set out their ethos, “She Speaks is a female-led performance night, but NOT female exclusive. We aim to promote women in the arts, we are trans inclusive, non-binary inclusive and we have an Open Mic for all genders. We have an open audience.
“We felt like LGBT History Month was the right time for us to solidify our identity because we recognise how inadequate gender language is and how this effects our night’s motto. We priorities these specific genders/groups because we feel like they’re typically oppressed/under-represented. However, what we’re basically saying is our night is for everybody and has opportunities for everyone. It’s about the Artists voice and we are completely for the arts.”
Artists interested in performing at the event can contact organisers via their Facebook page for information and to apply.
