The David Bowie Convention is coming to Derby 11 to 13 May 2018 and we’re getting your ready by sharing this massive playlist of the artist’s work.
The Convention has been running for five years and returns to Derby after being held in Hull as part of its UK City of Culture events in 2017. Run by James Draper of Heanor the convention brings together from all over the world fans of the artist who had a long career, taking in many different phases, before his death at the age of 69 in 2016. It’ll feature tribute bands and an associated art exhibition by Sarah Chapman is now running at the Guildhall showing portraits of Bowie among others.
The This Is David Bowie playlist was curated by Spotify and inspired by the retrospective of the artist at the Brooklyn Museum.
Featuring Bowie‘s biggest hits the playlist from Heroes to Life On Mars?, Rebel Rebel to Space Oddity it also includes tracks from Bowie’s last album Blackstar, and some of his lesser played tracks and collaborations with Queen and Mick Jagger all taken from his five-decade spanning, genre defying career.
The very definition of a mercurial artist Bowie continually explored music, identity and art from his first charting hit Space Oddity in 1969, through to the release of his final album just days before his death in 2016. That album, Blackstar, is still revealing secrets to listeners, becoming an enduring aspect of his legacy.
