Silent film Arsenal gets live score from Bronnt Industries Kapital at QUAD

Bronnt Industries Kapital perform a live score to accompany a new print of the 1929 silent film Arsenal, by Oleksandr Dovzhenko, in a screening at Derby QUAD on 3 February 2018.

Set during the closing stages of the Eastern Front of the First World War, Arsenal documents a Bolshevik uprising in Ukraine that was a pivotal moment in the Ukrainian War of Independence, and the countries war with Soviet Russia. Arsenal is a powerful anti-war statement, and has provoked comparisons with Picasso‘s Guernica for its compassionate, complex depiction of war.

This month marks the 100th Anniversary of the uprising and the new soundtrack was commissioned by Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Centre in Kyiv, Ukraine from Bronnt Industries Kapital, British composer Guy Bartell, who works in the fields of film sountrack, electronic music and sound art.

Tickets are £12, £10 concessions and members, and available now here.
