Local arts organisation Furthest from the Sea are out and about again on Saturday 16 June running their own local Festival in the main Market Square outside the Assembly Rooms and beyond.
The organisation itself comes under two main banners and this is being delivered as part of their Furthest from the Sea Music, Comedy and Arts CIC (Community Interest Company) flag, following on from the success of the recent Little Ed Fringe Festival, which saw several Cathedral Quarter businesses host small stages and a variety of music, poetry and other entertainment delivered in non-standard locations.
One of the stated aims of the CIC is to ‘encourage, nurture and support creativity at a grassroots level’ and as such have engaged many local performers and workshop leaders for the festival, including percussionist Jo May, hula hoop performer Emma Petkovic, circus skills and juggler Messy Moss and tap-dancing with Rebecca Jayne.
There will be plenty of opportunities for children and adults to get involved, especially in relation to some pirate themed activities. The festival will be actively running from 11am until 4pm.
